Shanyi Du is a professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, China, and is an outstanding expert and educator in the field of composite materials. He serves as the president of the Chinese Society of Composite Materials. He is one of the founders of the Centre for Composite Materials and Structures of Harbin Institute of Technology, China. His previous academic positions include: Vice President of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Member of Executive Council of International Committee on Composite Materials, etc. He has authored or coauthored over 200 journals and national/international papers, and 10 monographs or textbooks. He is a member of the editorial boards of famous international journals, such as Composites Science and Technology and the International Journal of Computational Methods. He also serves as the honorary editor of the International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials (Taylor & Francis Group).
