Zhejiang University (People's Republic of China) has two current nano-related projects: Suspension Polymerization and Polymer Nanomaterials. The university has six campuses – Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, Hubin, Zhijiang, and Zijingang – and has more than 11,000 postgraduates and over 6,000 Ph.D. candidates in all areas.
1. Suspension polymerization, an important polymerization process, which is applied to produce polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene and other polymers. 2. Polymer nanomaterials research focuses on preparation of "Nanomaterials Induced by Polymer and Their Assemble Systems" and polymer nanocomposites.
Recent Project: Study on the thermal decomposition kinetics of nano-sized calcium carbonate. http://www.zju.edu.cn/jzus/2003/0303/030321.htm

Researchers at University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) have developed a supercapacitor or electrochemical capacitor (EC) composed of an expanded network of graphene — a one-atom-thick layer of graphitic carbon. The team demonstrated excellent mechanical and electrical properties as well as exceptionally high surface area.
