Flinders University has a significant group of forty or so researchers interested in building, studying, or working with nanostructures and molecular interactions.

The University has recently identified this Group - the Nanostructures and Molecular Interactions Research Group - as one in which it will invest strategically for the future. Collaborations between its members have led to a distinctive line of research in which molecular assembly processes are linked with nanostructure development as well as the regulation and manipulation of molecular processes.

Flinders University was the first university in the world to offer a degree in Nanotechnology, commencing a four year honours program in 2000 by the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Research in Nanotechnology encompasses a range of projects, and is a direct reflection of the broad interdisciplinary fields that define nanotechnology. These research themes are focused on the following areas:
  • Biodevices
  • Molecular Design
  • Surface Imaging
  • Material
