Dmitri V. Louzguine is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University. For the last 12 years his studies are focused on the investigation of thermal stability, phase transformations, properties of amorphous alloys/metallic glasses, and nanostructured crystalline or quasicrystalline materials.

Dr. Louzguine is a member of the Japan Institute of Metals and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, USA, and acts as a reviewer for leading Materials Science Journals. As a local Organizing Committee Member Dmitri Louzguine took an active part in the scientific program preparation and holding 11th International Symposium on Metastable, Mechanically Alloyed and Nanocrystalline Materials (ISMANAM 2004) in August 22-26 2004 in Sendai, Japan. In 1999-2000 he took an active part in carrying out Nano 2000 Conference (Fifth International Conference on Nanostructured Materials held in August 20-25, 2000 Sendai, Japan) In his career Dmitri Louzguine has studied metallic glass formation in various Al-, Si-, Ge-, Mg-, Ti-, Zr-, Hf-, Ni- and Cu-based alloys, their mechanical and thermal properties, as well as their devitrification behaviour leading to the formation of nanocrystalline and nanoquasicrystalline materials.

Career Highlights

Dr. Louzguine graduated from Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (National Technical University) in 1991 and received Dr. Eng. degree at Tohoku University, Japan in 1998. Dr. Louzguine is a winner of Young participating scientist award of 9th International Symposium on Metastable, Mechanically Alloyed and Nanocrystalline Materials (ISMANAM 2002) September 8-12, Seoul, Korea.
