Marc Cahay Ph.D.
Dr. Cahay's research interests are vast, including: Carrier Transport in Semiconductors, Quantum Mechanical Effects in Superlattices and Quantum Wells, Superconducting Field Effect Transistors, Mesoscopic Systems, Solar Cells Research and Self-assembled arrays of quantum dots. Dr. Cahay joined the ECE Department at the University of Cincinnati in 1989 as an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in September 1995 and Full Professor in September 2000.He received the W.H. Middendorf Excellence in Research Award and support from the National Science Foundation under the Research Initiation Program in 1991. Cahay is the recipient of the Sigma Xi 1995 Young Investigator Research Award at the University of Cincinnati, the Outstanding Professor of the Quarter Award from the College of Engineering Tribunal in the Fall of 1997, and the Eta Kappa Nu ECECS Outstanding Professor of the Year Award for the academic year 2002-2003. He received the ECECS Dept. W.E. Restemeyer Teaching Excellence Award in 2004 and the W.H. Middendorf Excellence in Research Award in 2005. Dr. Cahay was promoted to the ranks of IEEE Senior member (December 1997) and IEEE Fellow (January 2007) as well as being elected Fellow of the Graduate School at the University of Cincinnati in the Fall of 2001. EducationReceived his B.S. in Physics from the University of Liege, Belgium in 1981.
