Paul joined OGI in December 2005. As a Research Program Manager, Paul is responsible for providing project management, financial modeling and supporting OGI researchers to achieve their scientific goals and milestones, as well as assisting with communications and business development activities.

During his graduate studies, he co-invented and patented a fiber optic biosensor technology for rapid, reusable, sensitive and selective nucleic acid diagnostics. On completion of his doctoral studies, he took on the position of Research Director of FONA Technologies Inc. To this end, Paul has authored over 30 publications in the field of biosensor technology.

Most recently, Paul held the role of Vice-President of Research and Development at SafeGuard Biosystems Inc. and led a research team on the continued development of the biosensor technology at the University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM) as a co-Principal Investigator on a project sponsored by Genome Canada and the Ontario Genomics Institute. He also served as an instructor at UTM where he provided undergraduate courses in analytical chemistry.


Paul received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Toronto in 1999.
