Steve Fletcher is a chemist by training.
Dr. Fletcher spent more than 25 years in industry (ICI) in a variety of research and management roles, many of which involved establishing links between businesses and universities. Steve was the Director of InsightFaraday since its birth in 2002. Over this period he has helped to build a programme of industry and academic collaborations, both nationally and internationally, aimed at promoting more effective and productive research and development through the use of new technologies. In early 2006 InsightFaraday joined three other organizations to form the UK‘s Chemistry Innovation Knowledge Transfer Network which is funded by the government to promote faster and more effective innovation in those sectors of UK industry that rely on chemistry.

Researchers at University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) have developed a supercapacitor or electrochemical capacitor (EC) composed of an expanded network of graphene — a one-atom-thick layer of graphitic carbon. The team demonstrated excellent mechanical and electrical properties as well as exceptionally high surface area.
