Dr. Fox runs the ultrafast laser labs in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Sheffield. These labs were established with funding from the EPSRC, HEFCE, the University of Sheffield, and the Strategic Research Infrastructure Fund (SRIF).

Fox mainly works on III-V semiconductors and photonic structures, with a particular interest in ultrafast nonlinear optics and quantum information processing. Further details of this work and a list of relevant publications may be found at the Semiconductor Physics Group web page. He also work on quantum optics, molecular materials, and magnetic semiconductors.
