Dr. Howe is a colloid scientist within Kodak European Research and my work involves research into the application of colloid/polymer/surfactant systems and their rheology with specific focus on novel systems, co-optimising formulation, manufacturability and product performance.

Until 2001, I concentrated on conventional photographic technology but more recently I have focused on Kodak’s new digital imaging technologies, such as inkjet. The work involves both ‘fundamental’ scientific understanding and its application, hence the people with whom I work range from academics/students (often via supervision of PhD projects) to manufacturing personnel (product introductions and problem solving) via research and product design and development. Outside of Kodak, I am currently Chair of the Joint Committee of the Colloid Groups of SCI (Colloid and Surface Chemistry Group) and the RSC (Colloid and Interface Science Group), and have served on the former since 1988. I am co-author of 73 refereed publications and 6 granted patents and was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of Journal of Colloid and Interface Science.
