Florian Müller-Plathe is a Professor of Theoretical Physical Chemistry at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany.

Dr. Müller-Plathe research interests include computer simulations of polymers, nanomaterials and other soft-matter systems, including biological systems.

After a post-doctoral stay at Daresbury Laboratory, United Kingdom, he spent five years as a lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. In the following six years as a group leader at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany, he developed the computational chemistry group, before becoming Professor of Physical Chemistry at the International University Bremen, Germany. In 2001 he founded Soft Materials, the first comprehensive journal in soft-matter research, and he moved to TU Darmstadt in 2005.

Education

He studied chemistry and obtained a PhD in quantum chemistry at the Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics.
