Dr. Roenker has more than 29 years of experience teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the physics of semiconductor materials and devices, analog and digital circuits, device and circuit fabrications and optoelectronic devices and circuits.

Dr. Roenker has successfully developed and taught senior and graduate level courses including ones on semiconductor materials, semiconductor device fabrication, state-of-the-art silicon and III-V devices and optoelectronics.  He has also taught for many years the department's junior level undergraduate courses in semiconductor devices and analog and digital circuits.  Most recently, he was awarded the department's Distinguished Teach Award in 2005.

In conjunction with his graduate teaching, he has also been continuously engaged in graduate education and research.  In total, he has published nearly 120 papers in archival journals and referred conference proceedings including papers in IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, IEEE Electron Device Letters, IEEE Journal of Lightwave Technology, Journal of Applied Physics, Physics Review B, Solid State Electronics, Semiconductor Science and Technology, Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, and others.  These have included several educational papers on course development.  Over the years, his research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, NASA, Army, Navy, Air Force, State of Ohio, and various industries.
