Description Researchers at University of Wisconsin-Madison are working on nanoscale piezoelectrics and nanopiezotronics mechanisms for the “direct conversion” of mechanical energy to chemical energy and splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen. Huifang Xu, an assistant professor in Mineral Science, Nano-geoscience, and Electron Microscopy talks to Nanowerk about the project.
