Key Advance Toward Single-Molecule Electronics Reported

Description Scientists report key advances toward "single-molecule electronics," using conductive nanowires to connect functional molecules to each other.

Key to single-molecule electronics is connecting functional molecules to each other using conductive nanowires. To achieving this, the researchers designed novel approaches to two issues: How to create conductive nanowires at designated positions, and How to ensure chemical bonding between the nanowires and functional molecules.

The study by Yuji Okawa and colleagues appeared in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
